Melanotan I, also known as afamelanotide, is a melanocortin peptide best known for pigmentation and tanning-response research. It is commonly discussed in relation to melanin production, UV response, photoprotection, and skin biology.
Most people looking at Melanotan I are interested in a more targeted melanocortin peptide for pigmentation research compared with Melanotan II. Melanotan I is usually discussed as the cleaner skin-pigmentation option, while Melanotan II has a broader melanocortin receptor profile.
Mechanistically, Melanotan I is an analogue of alpha-MSH and primarily relates to MC1 receptor activity, which is tied to melanin production in melanocytes.
Each vial contains 10mg of lyophilized Melanotan I powder for reconstitution with bacteriostatic water.
Reconstitution: Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. Add the water slowly down the inside wall of the vial and let the powder dissolve gently. Do not shake.
Storage: Store lyophilized peptides at -20 degrees C. Once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2-8 degrees C and use within 30 days unless the product guide says otherwise.
For Research Purposes Only. Not for human consumption. Not for veterinary use. Sold strictly for in vitro and laboratory research applications.
